Lindsay, ON (October 8, 2026) - This Thanksgiving, The Commonwell is celebrating its deep roots in the communities that helped shape our story by making two significant investments in rural healthcare.

The Commonwell has announced:
• A $250,000 commitment to the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation in support of priority healthcare equipment and technology.
• A $250,000 commitment to the Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation in support of bringing the hospital's first onsite CT scanner to Alexandria.

These commitments build on our recent investment in healthcare in Lindsay and reflect our ongoing commitment to the three communities connected to our founding organizations, Lanark Mutual, Glengarry Mutual and Farmers’ Mutual (Lindsay). Across Perth & Smiths Falls, Alexandria and Lindsay, we're investing in healthcare that helps communities thrive today and for generations to come.

Together, these latest commitments represent a $500,000 investment in rural healthcare, bringing The Commonwell's recent healthcare investments across our legacy communities to $1 million. Both new gifts were announced during Thanksgiving as a meaningful expression of appreciation for the communities that have supported us for more than 130 years.

As Tim Shauf shared, "A mindset of thankfulness means that we understand we are part of an ecosystem that has enabled our success. We haven't done it on our own." These investments are not only about supporting healthcare, but also about recognizing the families, farms, businesses, Members, broker partners and community organizations that have helped The Commonwell grow and thrive.
