The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group launches L.E.A.F. 2026 With $400,000 to support communities across Ontario 

Lindsay, ON (September 2 , 2026) - The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group is preparing to launch its Learning and Engagement Accelerator Fund (L.E.A.F.) 2026.  With $400,000 available, the fund supports community-led projects that bring people together, expand learning opportunities, and strengthen local connections across Ontario. Since launching in 2021, L.E.A.F. has invested more than $2.6 million in community projects throughout the province. 

L.E.A.F. supports grassroots initiatives that respond to local needs and create meaningful opportunities for communities to learn, engage and connect.

"Through L.E.A.F., we've seen communities transform spaces, create new programs, and bring people together in meaningful ways. We're excited to see what this year's applicants imagine for the future of their communities." 

What projects are eligible? 

L.E.A.F. supports community-led projects that: 

  • Expand learning opportunities and programming
  • Enhance spaces where communities gather to learn 
  • Strengthen community connection, capacity and resilience 
  • Address local needs through innovative initiatives 

Previously funded projects are not eligible; however, organizations may apply with a new project or reapply with projects that were not selected in previous years. 

Applications for L.E.A.F. 2026 open September 8, 2026, and close October 30, 2026. Funding recipients will be announced in December 2026. Community organizations, municipalities, educational groups, and non-profit organizations are encouraged to visit leaf.thecommonwell.ca to review eligibility requirements and submit an application.
